Uh...oh?
Did anyone else hear a rumor that Susanne Hilberry was in trouble...and considering closing?? Check this out...I heard it too from a different source. If Susanne closes and mocad stalls out...I think detroit artists will have to chip in for a big bus to a better supported art city??

Someone told me the art world here hadn't hit rock bottom yet: believing it would rise like a phoenix once it did. sounds like we're really close, but then the phoenix is an imaginary bird.
still, hilberry owns the building (my understanding): so there's hope in that. and of her keeping on.
also, paul kotula (late of ferndale's revolution) is opening a smaller gallery above the old revolution (second floor) with a peter williams show.
there's also mia in pontiac which opens next friday, march 17th. 7-10 pm - an open show of local artists juried by the founding director of chicago's mca.
I hear the next weekend at Somerset there's gonna be a Hilberry fundraiser at PF Chang's.
good thing I'm not staying in Detroit for too much longer.
yeah, I'm moving to Troy. that's where the art scene is at!
I will believe this when I see it. And maybe not even then.
john, don't talk shit about detroit
love it or leave it, or love it and leave it, but don't be negative about detroit, that's too easy.
