The Exhibition
2005 Actual Size Biennial, Vol. 1
September 17 – October 23, 2005
Opening Reception: Saturday, Sept 17, 6pm-11pm

Over 150 Detroit and Windsor metropolitan area visual artists will show works in all mediums in the 2005 Actual Size Biennial. “Actual Size is a comprehensive survey of contemporary art in Detroit. It’s a sort of Cliffs Notes as to what is going on here,” says Timlin who invited each artist to create one work in any medium, 2d or 3d, maintaining the size restriction of 8.5" x 11". "We are excited to present this important exhibition. Visitors will have a chance to witness the diverse spectrum that is Detroit art in a single viewing," says board chair Nick Sousanis. Spanning three generations of the Detroit area artistic community, the Actual Size Biennial began with the detroit contemporary in 1999 under Timlin’s curatorial direction. Participating artists include local emerging and established artists, many of whom exhibit on both a national and international level.
