gary eleinko @ Pittman Puckett Art Gallery
Artist statement here
A new gallery just opened up along with the space, in Ferndale. Since it is literally just across the street from me and I was happy to check out the new contemporary space. Although I can't stand a gallery that uses framework hanging, (it makes the work look like student work even when it isn't the case) it was a solid showing of drawings and spectacular attendance. Make sure you check out the drawings in person, they have much more detail than can be captured in a photograph behind glass.

WOW, DETROIT ART SUCKS
detroit art sucks... LOL sure it does
i enjoyed gary's work. it's nice to see someone working with pastels, a vastly underrated medium. playful compositions & skillful technique. some of the works felt meditative without being heady, and there were pieces that seemed to celebrate simple pleasure like being outdoors and traveling. but that's just my take on it. see for yourself! these do look much better in person. also, Gary has a great artist statement!
it's the detroit artsblog comments that suck, not the art. except for my comments- my comments rule. and okay well some of the art does suck. but not gary's, nor mine.
Do these look dirty or is it just me?
I like the ones without so much penis
Nice review and cool idea for a blog. I work at the organization (Affirmations) which houses the gallery and it's always nice to see community feedback on events and programs.
dear popo,
if you peanut butter your a-hole your dog just might lick it up. and down too. if you end up likeing it then do it again and try it with crunchy butter.
