sarah sze @ Victoria Miro
Goodness. I took a guess that this was Yale work. Yup...right on. Is everthing out of that school like this?? Not that I don't like it but....
American, Sarah Sze showing in London (victoria miro gallery) sparked my attention this morning. It reminds me of a colorful version of this.

yeah, objects, everyone uses objects now, its quite a trend. maybe get past the use of objects as a medium. it isnt that shocking, pisser mutt, brillo box
"Is everthing out of that school like this?"
Remember when avant garde art was the work of people on the fringe presenting new ideas?
Right, neither do I.
these aren't new ideas. they aren't even new objects. they're pretty. really pretty. As a woman once said "if you want Serra...you know where to go to get it..."
not a great endorsement, but ya know...you go to the laundromat to clean clothes. (of find sex i think too) so there's that.
Sarah Sze is the real deal. If you are noticing a lot of stuff like this work it is because many artists are copying her.
Matt,
Who would you say is copying (plagiarizing or whatever) Sarah Sze? Let me temper my question by saying that I really liked her install at Boesky a couple years ago, though she seems to have gotten into a bit of a habit of repeating herself. I'm not at all implying that I don't think people are taking from Sarah Sze.
And Anon 1: Everyone uses objects?? I mean, I understand the sentiment, being an "object user" myself, but do you hear how that sounds? Of course everyone uses objects...what kind of world do you think we live in???
there isnt a sarcasm button. i mereley meant, the naming of object usage as art is silly. we all move objects around daily, rather they are lampposts, images from movies, paint. we interact with objects, im strictly thinking that defining the use of commonplace objects as different than art objects is silly also.
interact with the world, dont define what it is you do or dont do
