yacht club gallery - opening this SATURDAY (june 16th)!

(click for details above)

So...this is what I have been up to lately. Thank goodness that other detroit events have simmered down a bit to give me more time to launch this Detroitarts summer exhibition space. We have some amazing shows...with great international/national artists planned. The shows are basically one night affairs so make sure to attend the openings!! I will be posting more details this week, including word of another up-and-coming detroit artist involved and not listed....so stay tuned!!
Remember in case you already forgot...one night exhibitions...what else will you be doing?

Congratulations Ann! I'm looking forward to the show. I was wondering though, the heading says "Friday, June 16" and the little card says "Saturday, June 16". Is the opening Friday or Saturday?

we should start a kitty (sic?) to determine who the secret addition will be. Guesses?

We'll end up with a "best of" list of up-an-coming detroit artists, yeah?

it's a 20-questions excercize in predictability. Question 1 - is it a CCS grad. probably. yawn.

if not CCS, then definitly Cranbrook. Because you know you can't be "up-and-coming" if you went to a state school or (gasp) no school at all...

it is an incestuous little area/world, isn't it? i love it in the way i love Judge Judy.

i was just saying it would be fun to guess who the guest is, i think that resulting list would be very telling but instead of guesses and nominations we seem to have derailed into fury and obscenities. again. i love judge judy. that was not sarcasm.

Looks like this is going to be quite a nice show...
However, why would you name your first show "F*CK YOU/COMMENTARY CRITICISM"?

Maybe I just don't get it, but was it really necessary to use the F-word as part of the show title?

Being such an "artsy" person I thought you'd be able to come up with a more creative title than that....

The title doesn't have a bad word in it, it is called F*ck You, not Fuck You. F*ck isn't a bad word.

"The latter piece hadn't been fully unpacked at the time of this writing and Gordon was considering showing it as is — with the work jammed in a box and pushed to the side (sort of like the postcard image for MoCAD's current exhibition, Stuff), and only the installation instructions mounted on the wall. "It's a way of saying 'fuck you' to the artist," Gordon says, clearly having fun with the installation."

This just makes me cringe, but to each their own.

I think you should just spell out fuck. I mean, the allusion is a little juvenile. Use the word, or don't use the word, but the * sorta undermines the former. but I don't agree with the anon who dislikes the use of the word altogether, i think it's a fine title and a nod to previous shows of similar titles, yes?
