Painter of light goes to jail?
"The FBI is investigating allegations that self-styled "Painter of Light" Thomas Kinkade and some of his top executives fraudulently induced investors to open galleries and then ruined them financially, former dealers contacted by federal agents said....The ex-owners allege in arbitration claims that, among other things, the artist known for his dreamily luminous landscapes and street scenes used his Christian faith to persuade them to invest in the independently owned stores, which sell only Kinkade's work."
oh, dear! hahaha!

goody + gordon at mona/mia
I am not sure if the main opening is sept 15 or if it was last saturday, but I decided not to post every image I took and instead a few teaser pics of the show. The main opening will include london artist stella vine so it is definitely worth the trip to pontiac in sept. Below are some of dick goody's drawings or preliminary sketches before his paintings. And I included some shots of my show "Parts" as well.

Synergy opening tonight
Friday, August 25 from 6 - 10:30pm - "The Power of the Word"
In an attempt to provide a positive reflection on the Arabic- and Islamic cultures, Synergy Fine Art Gallery will feature the work of Contemporary Arabic-Islamic Artists Hashim Al-Tawil and Mamoun Sakkal. The exhibition seeks to negotiate a dialog of visual communication that can bridge cultures and build tolerance and understanding among people.
10 Eastern @ Motor City
Speaking of what the internet can do for artists and the contemporary art community...here is another example:
"10Eastern was founded in 2003 by Rich Vogel to showcase the works of a tightly knit scene of Grand Rapids Michigan based musicians. 10 Eastern is also a place, the house where the site started.
In 2004 the Drawrings Boards were started, with the introduction of a java based applet that allows you to draw using your mouse and save the results to a gallery. A number of people who stumbled upon the site started drawing and interacting and grew quickly, with over 1000 drawn in a few months time, and more than 20,000 drawn to date by people from many different countries."
