Alley Culture
I would say I am pretty hip to most galleries in the metro detroit area...but it was this gallery - Alley Culture - that caught me off guard. The gallery has been around for some time, since November of 1995 to be exact! Yes, that was even before I was out of high school! Even artists like Gordon Newton, Michael Mikolowski, Hugh Timlin and former detroit artist Peter Williams were in a group show there that was curated by Michelle Perron (ccs center gallery director). The gallery is more like a shed or a garage, very rough but it still does the job. An interesting place to check out and maybe stay for some donuts and coffee!
The show up till May 13 is American Icon, American Myth - Here's Your Story of Paul Bunyan. It is only open Friday and Saturday from 3-6pm. Artists include: jeff gerber, bob jordan, mattew hanna, james milostan, hiroko sakurai.

Where the hell is that? Looks like the alley behind my old rental on commonwealth. I'd like to check out something new, though.

Paul Bunyan never joined the fluxus movement.
Since its start, Alley Culture has always served up the finest coffee in Detroit. Just notice how the photographer seemed to have the shakes when shooting the show.
