some art events coming up...

At CCS this week: The U245 Student Gallery opens a new exhibition of conceptual works by CCS students entitled "Open to Interpretation." Opening reception is Thursday, October 6, 4-6 p.m. The U245 Student Gallery is located on the main floor of the Kresge-Ford Building (just outside the front doors of the CCS parking structure) on the CCS campus. This exhibition runs through October 22.

CCS Liberal Arts faculty member DENNIS NAWROCKI curated (with Stephanie Cimini) "Polemical Clay," at Pewabic Pottery. This exhibition gathers together the provocative work of ten ceramists who address social and political issues in their work. Runs through November 4 at Detroit's historic Pewabic Pottery, . CCS alumnus and administrative staff member HARLAN LOVESTONE (Ross Sawyer) has curated DETROIT ART RIOT at 4731 Gallery in Detroit. The project includes an exhibition and series of happenings including lots of CCS alums and faculty members such as KATHLEEN ARKLES, ELAINE LOK, SOO MEE LEE, NIVEK MONET, SHEILA PALMER, BETZI PIPIS, JANICE POLZIN, PHAEDRA ROBINSON, CLINTON SNIDER, CARLO VITALE, SHELLY VITALE and many others. Happenings occur this Saturday, October 8 at 8 p.m. and at the
