MARSEILLE, France - A woman has been arrested on suspicion of kissing a painting by American artist Cy Twombly and smudging the bone-white canvas with her lipstick, French judicial officials said Saturday.

Its going to be more difficult to get the lipstick off the Twombly than it was to take the chewing gum stain off of the Frankenthaler.....

She was thinking that she loved it... and she made her feelings known... if it was my piece I would asked to let the lipstick stay on the painting… let art live..not die in some obscure museum and or gallery. And isn’t that an endearing story or footnote to have placed onto a work of art for history??
depends on what color the lipstick is, i suppose.
Send her to my studio. A number of my works are getting no love at all and some might be improved.
