Art Face Off

John Azoni mentions in his blog a new, neat site to check out: Art Face Off.

"Get Ready! The first Art Face Off competition starts in October! That gives artists time to get portfolios online and us time to work ~ and sleep. So here’s how it works. Artists upload their portfolios into one of eight general media categories. The categories range from painting to craft. As people are browsing through the artists portfolios, they give each artwork a rating from one to 10 Those calculated with the number of voters create an overall artist rating. Every two weeks the two highest rated artists go head to head in a friendly competition called an Art Face Off ~ artists must have a portfolio online for at least one month to be eligible for an Art Face Off."

I still liked the idea from a while back of the "Iron Artist" real live show-down with teams and camera coverage and giant foam snowmen.

Seems like a lot of opportunity for voter fraud in this. Using American Idol as a yardstick and everything... :-P

No no no! This is great! Especially when you start from the lowest rated artworks. They should also have a parallel competition for worst title.

If anything, it's free webspace to have images of your work and gain exposure.

i am sick of hearing any 'opportunity for artists' being defended with the idea of 'more exposure'.

exposure can be good, or it can be bad. people die of exposure. people get arrested for exposure. exposure exposure exposure exposure exposure exposure exposure

it's the new face of desporation and impatience.

unfortunately the internet also facilitates too much of this. Cable Network Art.

If QVC wanted to give your work exposure would you jump up and say hell yes?
