DETROIT ARTS FORUM
It has arrived...and it is a beautiful baby...arts forum! I am still working out some kinks - skin colors and such but it is up and running!

Here are a few points about the forum:
- I will still be posting regularly on detroitartsblog.com so keep checking the posts there. The forum is just a place where the discussion can go on without being buried in new posts.
- To use the forum no registration is required. It is pretty simple: just start a new thread or comment on a posted thread.
- The categories are as posted in the forum and cover everything from the arts blog material to even non-art related detroit stuff. It will be a great way for real connections to happen.
- I will have a link to the board (left side of blog) for easy access.
- Most importantly: have fun and play safe!

a friend just came through town from Philadelphia and was all excited about Artspace, the group from Minneapolis, that takes a big old empty building and turns it into an arts' site: with dance, theater, museum, etc; and on the top floors artist studios and living lofts -- all locked into a cheap rent forever.
this same group came through detroit six or seven years ago, and got everyone excited -- then went away. they've since finished such a space in jackson.
anyone know why they abandoned detroit? can we get them back?

i'm old and the forum seemed complicated and a bit detached. i'm not sure how to work the thing, or access it on a regular basis -- like the blog itself.
although i certainly champion such a place. i just got lost on the way there.

cool, i tried to get on the new forum last night and it would not let me, but maybe i will have better luck today, waiting for a activation code to my email
saw the berlin art show in clawson today, the metro times of today talks about it, some of the art was okay, but it did not really seem very original and only a few of the works seems inspiried, i guess i am a real bitch, but i am tired of such art being all the rage while my art sits in my closet....will be nice to be in the group show in chicago
i can see why people leave detroit, revolution gallery had the most horrid art and the most snobby curators i have ever seen, i would not hire them to work at a wendy's or white castle
