So has anyone else realized that James Dozier shows up to openings for the free food and drinks? Every opening I've been at and he's been there I've seen him walk in in sweat pants and go right for the buffet/bar eat and run. Too funny. I'm guessing Ann's really there for the art and not the cookies and wine.

Uh, and what are you getting at by this comment about Mr.Dozier? Or am I being too sensitive, and missing the facetious aspect of your observation?

James Dozier goes to nearly every opening in the city because he loves art, you asshole. He happens to collect work by local artists and has a small decent collection. Count your own cookies.

Dozier is one of the most beloved figures on the Detroit art circuit. he's at almost every art opening/lecture/happening/whatever, and he won't hesitate to share his thougths/opinions on what's happening around town, as well as offer up advice and guidance to those who have the sense to ask. PLUS he finds time to make his own work. Dozier deserves respect not your petty childish remarks anonymous #1.
thanks for reading,

oh and great show! this was my first time at Biegas Gallery, i enjoyed the new direction in Mark's work and i can't get enough of Carl's lush colors and endearing figures. and to whichever artist it was who painted the aerial-view landscape/tangled lines abstractions.. i was captivated by the space between the lines.. very impressive! i wonder what fueled the color decisions for the linework...

jeffrey matthews works are the only ones here worth considering. yikes.

anonymous #1--TOTALLY uncalled-for and judgmental comments about Mr. Dozier. He is a big supporter of the artists in this community and quietly purchases a great deal of work. Why would you see to it to begin a blog chat about such a petty "observation" that is totally unrelated to the show? The mention of his attire is perhaps most offensive in your commentary. Perhaps you too were there for the wrong reasons...?

"make it new, Mark" and you did...if you build it they will come, and so on with polycrylic et al. Jeff threaded the needle and will continue to do so as long as cocaine is abundant...just dont wear sweatpants, my two cents.
