WSU/Cranbrook switcheroo
A great show to check out is WSU/Cranbrook Exchange at Community Arts Gallery. This half of the show was curated by Wayne State's interim gallery director Kyle Kralapp who visited cranbrook studios to choose the artists for the show. The second half takes place this friday at Forum Gallery at cranbrook. There is a lot of art in this show so there is definitely something for everyone!

I often wonder about the imagined cranbrook landscape. I am starting to think that student are "taken to this place" as a prerequisite for classes and all somehow record similar conceptual imagined landscapes from sculpture to painting and places in between. I feel like I could draw/paint a picture of the cranbrook landscape...sharp angles of broken architectural planes, circling forms and oval shapes mixed with translucent and often fluorescent color. Not knocking the dreamscape but it is weird that you can definitely pin point a strong similarity in the works over the past years.
